It's beautiful and I love it! You'll need one of those flat round batteries to work the remote, but it will turn on and off without the remote. The remote is just for doing lighting effects. Note that the lamp part does not attach to the wooden base--it just sits on top. I have cats that like to knock things over, so I'll be using some museum putty to keep it in place.

Great clarity, cool colors, and it works. I know headset rests aren't necessarily rocket science, but it works really well. The wood base isn't attached, and the power cable is somewhat on the short side, but I found a nice place on my desk for it.
